Even though I am working from home, the boss has been cracking the whip so I have not been able to digress into working on other things. At least for the most part. I had thought I could use some of this time to do a complete redesign of this blog, but that is not going to happen. I had wanted to for a while, but then got the swift kick in the behind when Sabine unveiled her sweet new site. So, though I do not have the time to go full bore, I used Tuesday night (while The Wife was away) to slide in a new WordPress theme and dress it up a little. Hey, this one even uses gravatars on the comment pages! Still lame, but better.

I likes the flowers! Was that from the Steinbeck Watershed century thing? I really miss that ride. Of course, I liked the old photo of Bettona, too. Maybe you could rotate? I could make you some nasty JS to do that!

Ms Chatterbox - Yes, that is on that upper section of Carmel Valley Rd, taken during one of those Steinbeck’s. Wished I could ride up there right now
And I, too, liked the Bettona pic. And I have a few more that will work well in the narrow strip format, e.g., some of Mono Lake. It would be nice to get them into a rotation, but that will take some hacking on the PHP and JS of the theme.

That picture at the top is gorgeous.
Sabine got me hooked on wordpressing too…but I’m not ready to unveil that to the world yet.

BethW - Yea, fields of lupines are always great. So, when will the WordPress mixin’s make their debut?
Lauren - Hey, I grew up with 4 sisters, lots of estrogen influence. Totally at ease with who I am, so going to the softer side is fine with me.
Chris - Can you believe it? Expecting me to work? The nerve!

Oh my god, this is freaky. I’m, too, playing with wordpress and am contemplating moving my blog and updating and changing it completely (sneak preview http://competitivecycling.wordpress.com). But it’s a lot of work and I can’t make up my mind if I really want to put all this effort in. And now I looked at Sabine’s blog and it has me convinced again that it’s worth it … what a great blog.
I like your changes to your blog but to be perfectly honest I liked the old picture in the header better. It has so much style.
Work - I wish I could give it up, too.

Groover - For me, WordPress was where I started, in part because I built a company blog first, then mine. But once you get one going, it is a big deal to make major changes, as you are finding, and it is always a question of how much time do you want to commit to the change. But it looks like you’ve done most of the work, already.
The old picture will return, as will some others. BTW, the old picture is a town named Bettona in Umbria (Italy), just a bit south of Perugia and west of Assisi.
