The Wife ended her racing season about three weeks ago at Dunnigan Hills. She thought she would end the next weekend at San Ardo, but feeling a bit under the weather she gave that race a pass. Now that she is done for the season it is time for us to think about next year. What changes to make, when to ramp up the training, and lots of other decisions. The Wife had a long season, coming out of the gate on January 1 at the Mt. San Bruno hill climb and keeping it up rather steadily up to the end. She will sit out for a well deserved respite. I, on the other hand, need to ramp up sooner as I will start at Mt. San Bruno this year. And before then I need to return to a good hill climbing weight so it is now time for some caloric deprivation. I love my food, so taking it is smaller dribbles will be painful at best. Sigh.

Yeah, but you can lose 3 lbs. to my 1 lb. of loss. So, it will be MUCH less painful for you, ‘puny climber boy’.

lauren - 5 lb min, better if it were 10 or so. Easier to take that off me than off the bike.
Ms. Chatterbox - I will try to suffer in silence

whoa- that is a really long season! january to august! i am so happy i didn’t really get rolling in the races until july. 3 good months is enough for me. i don’t think i’ll start racing regularly until may or june next year. just too much. track is nice cause the season is shorter, at least i think it is.

if you need structure to the off season purge, we like http://www.crosstrainer.ca as it’s cheap and a really useful calorie counting program.
we’re in the same boat at the moment!

wanna lose weight while you have tons of fun? n. cal surfing season is kicking in!! paddling is so exhausting, but good alternative for upper body and core workout…that’s what i tell myself to skip a gym session.

Beth - yep, long season. But wasn’t one reason you had a late start the injuries from the early birds? If not for them, when would you have started? Anyway, hope to see you race today at Hellyer. Go Team Unattached!
Chris - Let’s hope I can be as disciplined as you. And thanks.
Ali - Thanks for the pointer; I will give them a look.
Twinkie - Been a few years since I attempted to surf. Perhaps again.
